11/30/2023 0 Comments Great escape lodge in queensbury ny(Even if the campground had been busy over the previous weekend, surely they could have gotten someone in to clean the bathroom by 5:30pm on Tuesday when we arrived.) The only bright spot of this campground was the laundry facilities - although it looked like the floor in the laundry room hadn’t been swept in quite some time. But we stayed at the campground on a Tuesday night in the off season. I could understand the state of this bathroom if we were there on a busy summer weekend. The men’s bathroom was dimly lit and disgustingly dirty, with paper towels and toilet paper all over the floor. Our site (Site “B”) was littered with trash. Our one-night stay at Lake George Campsite was perhaps the absolute WORST campground experience we’ve ever had (and we’ve camped in every state along the eastern seaboard from New York to Florida.) In fact, most all of the federal/state-run campgrounds we’ve stayed in were by far superior to this private campground. We didn't use bathouse or showers so cleanliness is merely speaking to the trashy nature of many of the sites. If you're looking to "camp" and be right near the fun houses then this is the place. Normally, I'm a live and let live.but people who have no common courtesy or respect for boundaries light my fuse. The site right next was a TT with a dually which backed in at an angle appx 2 feet from what would have been our picnic table area. The two sites next to us had well over 20 people combined and twice we had to request their guests move vehicles so we could get in and out. A couple of sites probably had 4-6 items around the rig.it was like a menagerie. There were old towables, some in bad shape, with numerous tents, pop up screen rooms, etc. It seems this park caters to many full time renters as sites were more like 'compounds' than RV sites. The sites, while I love wooded, are very close.too close! For the money we also only had 30A. It is located near two Fun Stops/Escape Park features so traffic around here is heavy. The traffic noise, as it is situated between I-87 and NY 9, sounds like we were at the NASCAR races most of the time. I'll give this place 2 stars because they left all the large beautiful trees and it is very forested in here. I have to say I was very disappointed with that. There would not have been any type of issue giving us 10 extra minutes. We even had to go back to the campground to drop off a friends child and at 11:15 the cleaning crew had not even shown up yet. In fact made me feel so bad that I missed my sons last lacrosse game to pack up myself. We were strapped for time and I needed 10 extra minutes past the 11 AM check out and the person checking us out. The checkout process could definitely use some work. There were many beautiful shaded tent sites that were quiet, but for the main part it’s right on the highway. If you’re looking for quiet, this is not the place. The campground is situated nicely with amenities like six flags and lots of shopping. We had seen pictures of the pool and it looked wonderful but it’s actually very tiny and crowded. I was disappointed that we didn’t have a picnic table though. The cabins were incredibly clean and the screened in porch was very nice. If you have four or five kids, they will fit comfortably. The unit we had number one can easily sleep multiple children. We rented one of the cabins and were very pleased with the accommodations.
